Lost

I have been lost before,

The smoky corridor

And the ghost-eerie glen,

My mind is lost again.

No open gate or gap,

An incoherent map,

No harbinger to lead,

Nor landmark there, to read.

The compass needle quit

When I had need of it,

When swinging back and forth,

Without a south or north.
